Constructed in 879 under King Indravarman I, Preah Ko is the earliest temple in the ancient city of Hariharalaya, located near present-day Roluos, Cambodia. The temple complex consists of six brick towers arranged in two rows, each dedicated to a member of the king's family and associated with the Hindu god Shiva.
The temple's name, meaning "The Sacred Bull," references Nandi, Shiva's mount, which is depicted in the temple's carvings. Visitors observe intricate sandstone lintels and detailed bas-reliefs that illustrate Hindu mythology, reflecting early Khmer architectural and religious practices.
