Authentic Stories from Diners
Captain Chims is one of my favorite restaurants in Kep. Being a vegetarian in an area known for seafood, it can be hard to find good meat-free options, but this place delivers. The Khmer vegetable curry is excellent and comes with rice. The breakfast omelettes and coffee are also great. On top of the quality, the prices are about half of what you’ll find elsewhere. Both locals and expats congregate here, which is always a good sign. The staff are also very friendly.
Our favourite place to eat in Kep, always delicious.. this time we had Seafood with peppercorns (pictured) and Seafood Amok, both amazing taste, well presented with friendly service and very reasonably priced... will be back again soon.
Went here every single day for four days because it was so good! The local Khmer curry and chicken amok were delicious as well as the beef stew. Even the western food was delicious! The beef sandwich was one of my favorites!! Can’t recommend enough! I want their bread recipe!!!
If you’re in Kep, you must stop by Captain Chim’s! Located near the beach. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, with very generous portions at such an affordable price. The highlight for me was definitely the seafood amok honestly the best I’ve ever had! It was so creamy and flavorful, with just the right amount of coconut milk that made it rich but not heavy. Truly unforgettable. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, as it’s a family-run restaurant. Everyone was so friendly, kind, and quick with service it really made the experience even better. Amazing food, great prices, and the loveliest people running it. 10/10 this place deserves way more customers!
Amazing restaurant! Sizeable vegetarian menu too. First place on our trip where we found lots of tofu meals. We ate here breakfast, lunch and dinner for an entire week. Never disappointed. Food so tasty. Generous portions. Fruit shakes delicious. Excellent coffee. And the staff that work here are the highlight. Nicest, friendliest people. The owner's sister runs a Guesthouse down the road under the same moniker - Captain Chim's Guesthouse. Stay there for sure if you're in Kep. Couldn't recommend this restaurant more - particularly if you're vegetarian.
